Connecticut State Capitol

Since this is an odd-numbered year, the Connecticut General Assembly has a longer session (from January to June) and must develop a two-year budget.

With a shortfall expected to top $1 billion, that issue most likely would have taken center stage if not for the tragic shooting in Newtown that left 20 children and six educators dead in December.

On top of those weighty issues, Connecticut is still struggling with unemployment that is above the national average. Should job creation be the No. 1 issue?

And how about education reform? Will the momentum on that front lose out because of more urgent legislative proposals?

Which of these should be the General Assembly's top priority?

Take our poll and tell us in the comments.
