Update 5:15 p.m.:
The following statement was released by Manchester Community College President Gena Glickman:
"The Manchester Police Department was dispatched to Manchester Community College following a report that a student was seen on campus with a gun. At approximately 1:52 p.m. an emergency shelter-in-place was announced by the Manchester Community College Police Department. Following their arrival, the Manchester Police Department began checking each classroom and office on our campus, which includes Great Path Academy, a high school on campus. Our campus remains in shelter-in-place mode as each building is searched and cleared by the Manchester Police Department. Great Path Academy has been cleared and students are meeting their parents nearby at Patriot Park.
Following the shelter-in-place announcement on campus, an emergency notice was quickly issued and forwarded via the MCC website, social media, local press, and text message to the faculty, students and staff who are registered on our campus emergency notification system. The Connecticut State Colleges & Universities system office was also notified. All classes and events on our campus were cancelled after 2 p.m. Manchester Community College practiced a shelter-in-place drill as recently as February 20."
Update 4:50 p.m.:
People that had been kept in one of the main buildings on campus are being released, exiting the building a few moments ago, many of them with their hands up.
Update 3:55 p.m.:
According to scanner reports, there was an accidental discharge of a firearm in the Charitable Foundations building at the college. The Hartford Courant and NBC Connecicut are reporting that the injured person is a police officer who was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment to injuries to his foot.
Several people inside the buildings have been Tweeting that police are now going room by room to release students and staff.
Update 3:25 p.m.:
The following information was just posted on the Manchester Community College website:
"MCC is presently under a shelter-in-place emergency and advises that all students stay off campus until further notice. Remaining classes and events for Wednesday March 6 have been cancelled.

Manchester Community College has issued an emergency alert warning students and staff to stay off campus "until further notice." There is also a large police presence on the campus, and chatter over the police scanner indicates that the police are searching for some type of "suspect" on the campus.
The Hartford Courant reports that a "man with a gun" was spotted on the campus around 1:30 p.m.
