A pair of walkers strolling near a wooded area behind the Enfield Commons Mall discovered the body of an unidentified person Friday afternoon, police said.
The discovery was made shortly before 2:30 p.m., Sgt. Tom Foy said. Enfield police, members of the Thompsonville Fire Department and EMS personnel all responded to the scene.
The body was found near the southwest corner of the woods, adjacent to the former commuter parking lot.
No identification or even a determination of the deceased's sex was made, Sgt. Dan Casale said at the scene.
An investigator from the state medical examiner's office left the scene shortly before 5 p.m. Police were awaiting arrival of the medical examiner's van at that time.
