Andrew Buanno did it all at Enfield High School - an All-State performer in both football and track, a standout at the New Balance Nationals track and field meet, and an artist of considerable skill.
The college game has been a little tougher, but Buanno is showing signs of the talent that earned him all those accolades.
On Saturday, Buanno and his Westfield State University teammates took on the Coast Guard Academy. Despite losing 31-27, Buanno excelled with a 13-yard scoring run, his third rushing touchdown of the season, and a 90-yard kickoff return for another score.
Buanno, a sophomore, has now run back nine kickoffs this season, totalling 271 yards. His 30.1 yard average ranks him eighth in the nation among Division III players, and he is the leading return man in New England in Division III.
Buanno and the Owls return to action Saturday at 2 p.m., when they host Framingham State on Homecoming Day.
