Collinsville Savings Society introduced its new president and chief executive officer to Canton’s business community this week.
Banking veteran Gary J. Roman was tapped to fill the shoes of the retiring Dennis Cardello.
The announcement was made Wednesday night at a special business after hours at the bank.
Lorinda Pane, chairman of the bank’s board of directors, introduced Roman.
Roman said Collinsville Savings is the epitome of community banking and added that he was thrilled to be in a town that so clearly has a sense of its history.
“I’m thrilled to be here,” he said.
Roman also injected some humor into the evening and referenced a rooster that joined the party in front of the bank. It wasn’t clear where it came from but Roman said he knew he’d meet a lot of people and smile a lot but wasn’t planning on that detail.
“I didn’t realize I’d be shepherding a rooster around,” he said.
For the past 11 years, Roman has served a senior vice president and senior loan officer at Windsor Federal Savings. He has also worked at Mechanics Savings and Webster Bank.
A resident of Suffield who formerly lived in Enfield, he was born in Torrington and graduated from the University of Connecticut with an accounting degree and has an MBA from Western New England College.
He is also a Rotarian for the Windsor/Windsor Locks/East Granby club and chairman of the board of Johnson Memorial Health Center in Stafford.
The after hours event also included complimentary food and drink, two prize baskets and the music of the Canton High School Jazz Combo.
