On Wednesday at 9 a.m., media from around the country is expected to converge on the McDougall-Walker Correctional Institution for the first parole hearing for Michael Skakel.

Skakel, 52, was convicted in 2002 in the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley in Greenwich. He is serving 20 years to life for beating Moxley to death with a golf club when they were 15-year-old neighbors. Skakel is a nephew of Robert F. Kennedy's widow, Ethel Kennedy.

His supporters say he "deserves to be released from prison a decade after he was convicted of killing his neighbor because he was a victim of a miscarriage of justice and has been a model inmate," The New York Daily News reported.

Skakel could be released in April if parole officials approve it at the hearing Wednesday. He is eligible for parole consideration because of laws in place at the time of the crime including good behavior credits.
