Senior Night is always emotional for any high school athlete, and any game involving crosstown rivals Fermi and Enfield high schools always brings out the best in both teams.
Combining those elements led to an exciting volleyball match between the two schools Thursday night at Enfield's home gym. Fermi took the first set, but the Raiders bounced back to capture the next three in posting a 3-1 victory before a raucous crowd.
"There's nothing better than coming back from a set down and never giving up," Enfield coach Albina Belisle said. "We kept fighting, kept our composure and kept pushing points."
Macy Peach led the Raiders (3-15) with 11 kills and six aces, and ran off eight straight service points in the third game. Senior captain Morgan Doiron contributed 24 assists.
For the Falcons (3-14), Mackenzie Vermette had 13 kills and 14 digs. Hannah Combs had five kills and seven digs, while Emily Quail contributed eight digs.
"It was a rebuilding year," Fermi coach Alex Pyznar said. "They workked hard and played hard all year."
