It is time once again for a performance by the Fermi Lamplighters Drama Club. Running this weekend is Squad Room, a farce about a police department with an enormous cast of characters and ninety minutes of laughs.
The play is produced and directed by Sue and Glenn Reese, a team that has been guiding the Fermi Lamplighters since 2005.
"Squad Room is a comedy that has been really fun for the Lamplighters to prepare and will be equally fun for the audience to watch," Sue Reese said.
Written by Tim Kelly, a playwright with more than 300 plays to his credit, the Lamplighters production features 60 students in roles ranging from a commander with eyes on a Mayoral bid, to a union janitor, to a hat check girl from the Pink Poodle disco with matrimony on her mind.
"Sixty kids have been working on this show since September. They are ready for a live audience," Reese said.
The Fermi Lamplighters is one of the largest clubs at the high school, according to Sue Reese. Over the years, many of the former student participants help out with the latest productions and remain supportive, joining parents, students and teachers volunteering to make the shows successful.
"People of all ages will enjoy the show. It makes a great family night out," Sue Reese said.
Squad Room can be enjoyed during one of three performances scheduled to appear at the Fermi High School Auditorium at 124 North Maple St. The opening show runs on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. and continues with two performances on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
General admission tickets are $10, and discounted tickets for seniors and students will be sold for $5. All tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
