The two girls accused of distributing cupcakes laced with urine to fellow students at Fermi High School may face criminal charges.

School resource officer Eric Hoover is investigating the incident. "If there is probable cause, there will be arrests," Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

Hoover was informed around 7:30 Friday morning by school administrators that a pair of girls had baked cupcakes and given them out to schoolmates, Sferrazza said. Prior to baking the cupcakes, the girls had reportedly urinated into the batter, according to a report on WFSB-TV.

School officials quickly identified the two suspects, after a friend they had told about the incident went to the administration, the news report said.

By mid-afternoon Monday, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeffrey Schumann had not returned a message from Enfield Patch seeking comment.
