James Foster scored three goals, leading Simsbury to a 5-3 victory over Fermi-Enfield/East Granby/Stafford in CCC North ice hockey action Wednesday at the Enfield Twin Rinks.
"When you score five goals in a hockey game, it's amazing how often you win," Simsbury head coach Tom Cross said. "James had two goals last game and three today. He's got some good skills, he gets around the net and he can finish."
Trailing 4-2 entering a power play, Falcons head coach Frank Genovese pulled goaltender Aaron Lickwar in favor of a sixth attacker with 2:47 remaining. The strategy paid off, as Nick Ferracci scored with 1:28 left to pull within one.
Foster spoiled the Falcons' comeback by completing his hat trick into an empty net with 51 seconds to play.
Andrew Several made 19 saves for the Trojans, while Lickwar stopped 24 shots in net for the Falcons.
Both teams return to action on the road Saturday. Simsbury (3-2) plays at Conard at 1 p.m., while Fermi-Enfield/East Granby/Stafford (2-4-1) travels to Trinity College to face Glastonbury at 7:30 p.m.
