Owl's Head Spreading its Wings With New Terrain

The Les falaises glade at Owl's Head.

It's no secret that the cruising trails at Owl's Head offer some of the best views in the East - and arguably even the continent.

The resort in southern Quebec sits on Lake Memphremagog - on the Vermont border - and some of them, like the aptly named Lake View, simulate the skier or snowboarder riding right down into the lake itself.

But what really makes this mountain special is the advanced terrain.

Owl's Head has some of the best tree terrain in North America, making the drive up Interstate-91 of about four-and-a-half hours from central Connecticut well worth it.

And things are even better for this season. Owl's Head has added five glades to bring the trail count to 50:

• Les falaises
• O.Z.
• Skiboo
• Vestibule
• La Cachette

An old glade has also been cleaned up and renamed L'Urubu and it, along with Les falaises and O.Z., are double-black status runs that mountain officials promise to be a conversation piece this winter.

Sore after riding all those glades? Fear not, Owl’s Head has added massage therapy services at the apartment-hotel. The service adds to the existing restaurant and lodging services on hill.

The massage therapy services feature Karine Chabot, certified in tourism development from the Laval University and a graduate of the massage therapy institute Guijeck.

Chabot is a specialist in sports therapeutic approach for physiotherapy clinics and also is certified from the Boston Institute of Core Structural Therapy in "myofacial release technic."

The service will also be open to the public.
